Wilderness on your doorstep

Guided tour through the Sulzbachtäler

The Sulzbachtäler wilderness area is one of the most unspoilt parts of the Hohe Tauern National Park. Between the Upper and Lower Sulzbachtal valleys lies a landscape where nature still largely calls the shots: wild mountain streams, sparse larch forests, alpine meadows, moraines, scree slopes and impressive views of the glaciers.

This area can be experienced most intensely on a guided National Park tour. Starting from the Untersulzbachtal, the hike first heads towards the Aschamalm and then continues into more challenging, partly pathless terrain. Along the way, you’ll really get a sense of just how rugged, quiet and vibrant this high-alpine landscape is – with rare plants, traces of the glaciers and perhaps even chamois or red deer on the opposite slope.

This tour is no leisurely stroll, but a genuine nature experience for sure-footed and fit mountaineers. Those who take part will experience the national park at its wildest – unspoilt, impressive and in close contact with the power of the mountains.
