A ranger’s perspective on the Wildgerlostal
Guided national park tour in the Wildgerlostal
Anyone wishing not only to hike through the Wildgerlostal in the Hohe Tauern National Park but also to gain a better understanding of it can take part in a guided national park excursion. The tour leads from Gasthof Finkau via the impressive Leitenkammerklamm gorge towards Trisslalm and into the unspoilt high-mountain landscape of the Wildgerlostal valley.
Along the way, visitors learn more about the power of water, the traces left by glaciers, the unique vegetation of the Hohe Tauern and the wildlife along the Wildgerlosbach stream. With a bit of luck, you may spot dippers, grey wagtails or grey-headed wagtails.
The guided hike into the Wildgerlos Valley follows well-maintained paths and is suitable for visitors with a good level of fitness. Sturdy hiking or mountaineering boots, protection against the weather and sun, as well as plenty of drinks and snacks, are essential items to pack in your rucksack for this National Park tour.
